Clean Energy Startup Weekend
MIT's Clean Energy Startup Weekend kicks off Friday with stories from prior Clean Energy Prize contestants about their launch and experience in the contest. With success stories in mind, we start the pitchathon. Anyone with an idea has the chance to share with folks from across the country to find the critical talent win.
Saturday we've got workspace and workshops on crafting your pitch and application for Clean Energy Prize. Sunday, teams will present to Friday night's speakers who will be acting as mentors, to help them refine their ideas and accelerate out of the weekend.
Food and drinks will be provided. Come to one session or stay all weekend. We will have opportunities for teams to form on Friday night and Saturday morning, and connections with pitchers can happen at any time through a live feed of ideas on our website.
Let's power up!
About the MIT Clean Energy Prize
The MIT Clean Energy Prize (CEP) is a multi-stage, student-organized business plan competition that culminates with a Grand Prize Awards Ceremony and Showcase in the Spring. University teams from across the United States enter their business ideas in one of three categories: Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, and Infrastructure & Resources.
In January and February, teams submit an executive summary and pitch deck. MIT CEP judges select 15-21 business plans (5-7 from each category), which then receive mentoring and access to other MIT CEP resources. During this time, semifinalists develop and refine their business plans before presenting them to a panel of expert judges at the CEP Finals event in April. The top two teams in each category go on to compete in the Grand Finals. In the Grand Finals the six teams compete for the $125,000 MIT NSTAR Clean Energy Prize, $100,000 DOE EERE Clean Energy Prize, and the three $25,000 Track Prizes.
