During GEW

Sabin-Schellenberg DECA reached out to entrepreneurs around the local

community. Three entrepreneurs, involved in everything from an accounting practice to

a local sports shop owner, will participate on a kick-off event for Global Entrepreneurship

Week. Advanced Business classes filled with DECA students will get to ask questions such

as: Why did you decide to become an entrepreneur or what lead you toward that path?;

What level of risk was involved when you first started?; What skills do entrepreneurs

need?; What is one of your biggest accomplishments as an entrepreneur?; What is one

of the greatest difficulties you face as an entrepreneur?; Are there any other pieces

of information you would like to let our students know? Each entrepreneur will answer

the questions in a round-robin style, and give their perspectives on their individual

business ventures. DECA students benefit by not only creating connections within the

community, but also by hearing real-world examples of challenges and successes that

coordinated with their entrepreneurship class work.
