During GEW

The Southeast Washington Economic Development Association and Pomeroy High School FBLA Chapter will present “BackAtcha”, a reciprocal mentorship program designed to connect youth entrepreneurs with veteran business folks in the community so that both groups can learn from each other. The FBLA chapter will present trending business practices in areas such as marketing using social media, technology-based business aids, and using the “y” (or “millennial”) factor, while the veteran business people will provide real-world perspective and experience in areas such as customer service, diversification, and choosing/managing human resources. The format will be akin to “speed-dating” but in a group setting, where groups of 3 to 5 learners will be paired with 1 or 2 instructors for a 10 to 15 minute mini-lesson with written resources available at each station. Each instructor group (youth or vets) will have an hour to be the lesson instructor group and then the groups will switch roles. The event will be facilitated by SEWEDA’s Garfield County Managing Director, Alesia Ruchert, and Pomeroy High FBLA advisor Amy Miller.
