Leading HR When It's Not Your Day Job
This is part 2 of 2. Training for business professionals who are responsible for human resources yet are not deeply-trained HR specialists. This is meant as a tool to learn about recruiting and retaining your organization’s talent.
Are you responsible for HR in your organization? What if HR is not your subject matter expertise? What if you were a recruiter and are now responsible for all of HR, or a generalist who needs to strengthen your staffing skills? What if you are not available for a HR course at WCC or a master’s at EMU?
Each session will include tactics, skills to learn, legal considerations, and resources for next steps.

Part 1 – Recruiting Talent (Most recently took place 8/29/13 - future dates to be announced soon)
Join us for a session devoted to talent sourcing and selection. Some topics will be covered in 3 minutes such as, here are your top choices if considering background checks or take home this offer letter template. Other topics are for skill building such as how-to-interview training.
Part 2 – Retaining Talent
Join us for a session devoted to talent retention and redirection. Topics include performance feedback and management, training and development, terminations and exit interviews.
Our presenter Scott Trossen is Talent Director of Ann Arbor SPARK. Before leading his own startup for five years and providing outsourced HR to small companies, Scott worked at Pfizer, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, Kellogg’s, GE Capital and Eaton Corporation.
