The topic we are proposing to address is: Growing the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem: Students, Faculty, Entrepreneurs & Community.  This Conference brings together all sectors of the campus and broader community to share strategies and examples of efforts designed to advance entrepreneurship education beyond the province of the business school.  Looking across the landscape of entrepreneurial programs throughout Miami Dade County, and within the MDC system itself, more opportunities are needed to engage students and make them more aware of entrepreneurship as an option for their future career and professional endeavors.  The conference will feature examples of student clubs, K-12 collaborations, economic development partnerships and entrepreneurship resources available on campus and throughout South Florida.

The proposed outcomes are:

  • Share strategies on the Center’s efforts to develop a campus wide culture of entrepreneurship amongst a campus of 50,000 students;
  • Increase in integration and contextualization of entrepreneurship into courses within and outside of the School of Business;
  • Introduce faculty to various entrepreneurship curriculum i.e. IceHouse, in an effort to increase the number of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship-infused courses available for students;
  • Highlight the burgeoning ecosystem of entrepreneurship support available to support student ventures and the Center’s collaborations with entrepreneurial support organizations to create a K-16 pipeline of entrepreneurship education in Miami Dade County, and other key regions of South Florida, esp. Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
