Conference kicks off Global Entrepreneurship Week in Washington State

Entrepreneurs, government officials and economic development leaders throughout Washington State are invited to participate in an interactive forum with Becky McCray, a national expert in entrepreneurship. Scheduled for Nov. 15, the Rural Pathways to Prosperity Conference is the kickoff to a weeklong series of more than 30 events statewide that are part of international Global Entrepreneurship Week, running from Nov. 18 to 24, 2013.

Participants in the live online webinar will be able to interact with Becky, local facilitators and economic experts in a discussion about the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The morning session will provide attendees with an overview of a healthy small community entrepreneur ecosystem and how to use existing resources to create a clear vision for economic growth in the community. The afternoon session will focus on how to start mapping the community, identify projects and resources that will improve the community’s economic vitality, and share ideas with other professionals about community development and revitalization.

McCray is the co-author of Small Town Rules: How Big Brands and Small Businesses Can Prosper in a Connected Economy, which provides practical strategies to make communication and customer service with clients and consumers personal, relevant and successful. She is also the author of the Small Biz Survival blog that connects small town entrepreneurs with other professional business professionals.

The webinar will be held Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Registration fee is $25 and interested parties can register at http://waruralprosperity.wsu.edu. For more information on the event contact Krisan LeHew at WSU Stevens County Extension. She can be reached at (509) 690-8400 or krisan@wsu.edu.
