Please join us for a timely discussion about how policy plays a role in enabling social innovation and entrepreneurship and what challenges lie ahead for policy makers and advisers.

Social entrepreneurs and enterprises consistently bring up policy as an area that can either inhibit or enable their work in creating social impact.

With remarks from USAID leadership, the round table will feature leading social entrepreneurship organizations and social entrepreneurs from the field who are working on policy related issues. We will also discuss positive policy efforts currently underway that are helping to pave the way for social entrepreneurship.

USAID currently has more than 100 projects across the developing world which include both empowering social entrepreneurs in their home countries or through diaspora engagement. Our projects are also designed to support the emerging impact-investing industry to help expand the role of social enterprises in emerging market economies and make public and private capital more accessible.

The Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship is a collaborative program aimed at supporting a robust social entrepreneurship movement in select countries. Formed by USAID and The Synergos Institute in collaboration with Ashoka and the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, the Alliance works with leading organizations active in social entrepreneurship globally and regionally to focus on needed support mechanisms including policy regulations, enhancing existing networks of social impact organizations and institutions, and promoting the value and increasing the visibility of social entrepreneurship into U.S. government programming through a public-private sector collaboration.
