Co-Founders Lab Hosts Inaugural Events During GEW
Michael Hughes of CoFoundersLab has been blogging about the success of the inaugural CoFounders Wanted events that were featured events of GEW/USA.
Before the first CoFoundersLab event in Seattle, Hughes surveyed the local startup ecosystem by visiting Connie Bourassa-Shaw, Director of the University of Washington Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, HUB Seattle, part co-working space, part office space, and part event space, SURF Incubator a resource network for entrepreneurs and finally the StartupSeattle headquarters. With the help of StartupSeattle founder, Red Russak the Co-Founders Wanted Seattle event on Thursday, November 15th hosted over 80 people. Hughes accounted the strong host of local entrepreneurs looking to do everything in their power to help Seattle startups thrive.
The event in Portland, Co-Founders Wanted Portland hosted about 60 attendees from industries including clean energy, high tech, healthcare, and sports & recreation. Hughes was able to sample the startup community within the Portland region through meeting with the founder of the Portland Incubator Experiment (PIE), the head of the Portland Seed Fund, Portland State Business Accelerator and speaking with other successful local entrepreneurs.
CoFoundersLab is a free, online matchmaking service that gives users access to the largest group of entrepreneurs ever assembled looking to join a startup or be joined on their venture. They also hold in-person events quarterly in a number of markets across the U.S., and rely on local volunteers to help us organize and run the events.
