Tulsey Award Winners Announced

The Tulsey Awards recognize the pioneers and innovators of the Tulsa community. These publicly nominated and voted awards recognize the importance of entrepreneurs influence on our quality of life and economic strength. Members of the Tulsa business community announced the winners of the 5th Annual Tulsey Awards, held at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame Nov. 16. In a ceremony that slightly mimicked the Oscars and MTV Music Awards, 11 category winners were awarded with a golden bronze Driller statuette to recognize their entrepreneurial spirit. One nominee had the possibility of receiving two Tulsey Awards by receiving the most votes in the competition for the Tulsey Entrepreneur of the Year. 55,000 votes were made online at the Tulsey website, This year’s 2012 Tulsey Award Entrepreneur of the Year went to Judi Grove with Turn Tulsa Pink. 2012 Winners: Arts & Entertainment, Steve Cluck of Louis and Cluck; Civic, Judi Grove of Turn Tulsa Pink; Emerging, Kacie Frazier of Okies Rock Apparel; Franchise, Joe Davidson of Oklahoma Joe’s; Green, Joseph Henretty of Tulsa Pedicabs; Interactive, Ryan Phillips of Phillips 360; Legend, Connie McFarland of McFarland Architects; Restaurateur, Cheri Asher of Coffee House on Cherry Street; Serial, Carey Baker of Part-Time Pros; Young, Chelsea McGuire of Take Heart Tulsa; Entrepreneur of the Year, Judi Grove of Turn Tulsa Pink; Above & Beyond, Michelle Allen of City of Tulsa. All of the events during Tulsa Global Entrepreneurship Week, including the Tulsey Awards, were coordinated by the City’s Economic Development Commission Entrepreneurship Committee.
